  • Hi, careers advice plz dolts.

Right, as some of you may know, i recently crashed and burned out of teaching for a number of reasons. Which leaves me precisely no-where.

I am currently considering the possibility of turning an amateur interest in all things web-related into some sort of money making scam by getting into webdesign or implementation. This will clearly involve learning important skills such as using software and coding languages. My html is passable and i'm in the process of teaching meself Javascript so expect lots of stupid questions in the coming weeks and lots of silly and un-pot-related web projects. Any advice you can give me on the kind of qualifications i will need and formal teaching you recommend i try to get would be very much appreciated. As it stands i have a degree and a decent set of A-Levels (exams taken at 18) but no quals or training in like software use or programming.

    Thanks in advance.

    Chris 'Pothead' Fitzsimmons.

Hmm... probably not the best time to be starting a career in web design, with the world economy as it is...

Probably the best way to go is to do freelance work, b/c it'll be hard to get hired by companies nowadays (they're mostly laying off workers). Word of mouth is the best way to get clients... esp. if you find yourself a niche market, like I did

Ive always wanted to be a web deisgner tho i was never that good at it. Then i started to go to skool, a tech skool that goes form july to feburary teaching us stuff like, SQL, VB, JAVA,HTML, ASP,VBscript,XML,FLASH, and client and server side web programing, i think if u want to change u might want to look to find some type of skool like that, i mean you could alwasy just try and read books over and over but bleh i cant even do that.

I wish though i started programing earlier in my life
