we wanted to pimp out our forums a bit so we could get some more visitors dropping by to say hello & talk strat etc. we made a strat forum with a link to our recordings section, MF's ARM project, the HW:C Bible & the prepatch mod so ppl could have a look and then maybe discuss them. we then added search engine listings and a link to them from the top 100 site so if anyone visited there, they would see the link and drop by to say hi. it did actually get us a few new visitors.
problem is, the people who are listed on that site take exception to this. somebody even went there the last 26 days in a row and rated our site at 1 out of 10 in every category so our rating would go down. due to the anonymity in comments that you can make about sites on that list, ive seen some very nasty comments made about all of the sites by certain people. DAB copped alot of it because their site kept getting lots of visitors. nice community spirit, guys.
ive removed the bit of java script which gives us a rating, but kept the forums on the list - basically because we would prefer for people to visit here and come introduce themselves & maybe have a strat discussion or two. you can find our link down the bottom of the list from now on so nobody's nose is put out of joint.
i hope that those who think its cool to visit there every day, vote their site 10 and vote everyone else 1 and then make rude comments about everyone else go ahead and "win" the top 100. i also hope that anyone else who wants to add a link to their forum doesnt cop the same amount of mudslinging. just because its interactive, doesnt mean it isnt a website.
