Last night I watched two games, empire vs D|S I think they're called. First on beach, second on village. In the village game, the POV never died; he was revived by a medic every time he was fragged, EVERY time. In the beach game, the POV was a medic. He was stationed at the lower bunker door and fought right down to his grenade, always reviving those who try to get the engineer doin his thang. Not once did I hear "MEDIC" beyond the initial call when a player dropped.
The lack of comm between players on these teams indicates to me that their using 3rd party comms and/or playing out a well practiced strat.....
Never would this degree of team-play be seen on a public server...
(impressions from a rtcw newbie)

actually meths, i was talking to some guys on timelord about that. what they said was that they didnt use bcom or whatever - they tried it and found that it was more of an impedence in this game. Md said a similar thing to us on irc.
what they did say, however, is that radio silence is extremely important for a good team. no unneccessary calls at all. they said that once they had been playing together for a while, they understood where they were meant to be and what they were meant to be doing. if one person calls "i need backup" or "defend the objective" - everyone knows what they need to do & it shouldnt need to be said twice.
if someone calls for a medic or ammo, they only need to do it once, if at all... good meds and Lts should keep their teams well stocked.
also, alot of them use chat scripts. i was watching a game the other day and each player was able to post lt/thompson, eng/mp40, med/thompson, soldat/venom etc during warmup by pressing a hotkey.
i think the most helpful one of these would be hotkeying "on my way" - a sorely missed voicechat command.
we all now realise that chat in game is completely useless - unless you're hiding behind a crate or something, you're gonna get dropped in seconds.
