As i'm being killed off in space in Gal 54, i thought we should be prepared for the next Galaxy.

Firstly, to have any chance of being close together in the new Gal we have to reset our accounts as close as possible to the same time. I mean with just a few seconds difference. As soon as we have the new accounts we can post here detailing the planets we can see around our new start points. Hopefully we can link up at once, if not..........
We will have to expand outwards, constantly reporting new sightings of planets, players and alliances untill we can link up.

Any thoughts?

Recce, it isnt Elite. However if u want to join in, by all means go look around at the site, read some of the forums. There is a newbie section in the forums which will give u some idea of the game

For those too lazy to go to those sites, the game is a browser game with 600 players in each arena/map/galaxy. There is one turn per hour, 24 per day (duh). There are empty planets to be claimed, and occupied planets to be taken and colonized. Mines and factories are built on planets to make RUs. RUs and population are needed to colonize more planets and build warships. Techs may be researched to make better/faster/stronger ships (u get to choose ship design). Alliances of up to 4 players may be formed to kick azz and conquer the Galaxy. I r looking for 3 players. Minimum log in time would be 3 x 30 mins per day, but probably more to win/survive. the galaxy ends when only 50 players are left; i think (never got to end yet). Each Galaxy seems to last about one month, and by now i know most of the n00b mistakes to avoid (been there, seen it, done it, got the tee shirt).

Here are some common n00b mistakes.

DONT build any ships for at least the first week, unless some n00b attacks u. Building ships too soon will slow down your inital growth and hamper u. It will take a while before u can do anything useful with ships anyway, as u need about 12 or 15 light frigates to take down an inactive's home world.

DONT switch to weapons tech research asap. Its the same as in HW, its no good knowing HOW to build the strongest ships if u dont have the RUs to build them. Better to research 'research' or 'economy' or 'production' or 'ore mining'.
One recipe i saw went:
reseach to level 10
econ to level 10
production OR mining to level 10
research to level 20
nano tech to level 22
engines to 10 or 15

DONT attack the neighbours asap, build a strong enuff fleet to take over an inacitve home world, then find one and take it. But DO scout the system first for nasty surprises (minefields or fleets)

DO talk to the people around you, if they dont answer they may be your first inactive target. People that reply quickly and often may be a good bet for an ally. Allies that rarely log on are often eaten by their allies, thats all they're good for.

U need 3 things to colonize more planets, population, production and ore. Build up population first, build mines and factories as u need em, when each planet becomes 100% efficient, it means u need more jobs. Start building research labs when u have an income of 500 prod & ore each tick.
Every 3 or 4 colonies should be mainly population, to generate cash, and colonists.
