Searching Disabled?

WTF's with searching disabled? My link to find latest posts since last visit is useless.

well i can fix those things, but he had to have done it for a reason. I think i've heard of disabling searching through forums before because it destroys the bandwidth

Not so much bandwidth as server RAM and CPU time.

Molle disabled them both.

I doubt it's the server's fault. A fair chunk of the db should be archived if search is causing slow-downs. The DB must be getting up to around 15 gig by now. It was only 9 when it was migrated last. Does vB prune or archive threads?

Another solution may be to comment out the search links in the header template.
